Good afternoon All,

This is just an update regarding Coast Guard Operations (in cooperation with NYS DEC, Dutchess County, and Ulster County) on the Hudson River this summer. The Coast Guard is continuing operations on the Hudson River this month, we will be conducting joint operations with NYS DEC in the northern half of the River next weekend. As a reminder, the primary objectives are to promote boating safety and to connect with users of the waterway. Of important note, the majority of Coast Guard warnings and violations issued within the June operations were related to fire-fighting equipment, primarily fire extinguishers. I recommend reminding your networks that a simple review, using the free Coast Guard mobile app, of required safety items for their vessel can go a long way to promoting boating safety. The app makes it simple by filtering requirements based on length and propulsion type.

Please note, the offer still stands this summer for marinas and any other organizations to request a visit from our personnel. To make a request please contact Ann Marie Gorden, our Coast Guard Public Affairs Officer, at (347) 585-2901 or Annmarie.Gorden@uscg.mil to coordinate. We have received two requests this summer.

Any questions or concerns just get a hold of me. Any feedback on the operations would be great as well.

Best regards,

LCDR Josh Buck
